Rian Johnson (born December 17, 1973) is an American filmmaker. He is known for writing and directing the neo-noir film Brick (2005), the comedy-drama The Brothers Bloom (2008), the science-fiction thriller Looper (2012), the space opera Star Wars: The Last Jedi (2017), and the murder-mystery Knives Out (2019).

Notable films

  • Evil Demon Golfball from Hell!!! (1996)
  • Ben Boyer and the Phenomenology of Automobile Marketing (2001)
  • The Psychology of Dream Analysis (2002)
  • Brick (2005)
  • The Brother's Bloom (2008)
  • Looper (2012)
  • Star Wars: The Last Jedi (2017)
  • Knives Out (2019)

Why He and His Films Rocks

  1. He has made great films and short films like Evil Demon Golfball from Hell!!!, Brick, The Brothers Bloom, Looper and Knives Out.
  2. He loves everything about 2019's Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker trailer when it was released, and he commented: "I just melted back into being a happy kid”.
  3. He is a good writer, which his writing was pretty decent.
  4. He had a great cameo role as an Imperial Technician in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
  5. He also did an amazing job directing music videos "Woke Up New" and "Oh Baby".
  6. His visual effects in his movies were well done.
  7. His film Knives Out was even well-received by critics and audiences, which is Johnson's best film in 2019.

Bad Qualities

  1. He directed the infamous film Star Wars: The Last Jedi. While it was well-received by critics, it wasn't well-received by the fans.
    • Speaking of The Last Jedi, he mentioned that he had no concern for the Star Wars franchise, and he left a scathing tweet when he was reminded of the best moment in the Prequel Trilogy. In that film, he even pushed the moral of "the past should be forgotten", starting from making Luke Skywalker a grumpy man.
  2. He blamed Gamergate for the Star Wars fans' dissatisfaction with the drop in quality of Star Wars products.

Same goes here: To Johnson, just ignore the "Star Wars" fans (those idiotic shills) and continue with your talents.

At least he showed how much he didn't respect the franchise instead of not handling criticism.
