"The thought crosses the mind: Where can it go from here? The answer is pretty much everywhere. It keeps on going and going, following one exciting sequence with another and then another."
Mick LaSelle

Mission: Impossible - Fallout is a 2018 action-spy film directed by Christopher McQuarrie that stars Tom Cruise, Henry Cavill, Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Rebecca Ferguson, Sean Harris, Angela Bassett. Michelle Monaghan and Alec Baldwin. It is the 6th installment in the Mission: Impossible franchise.

Ethan Hunt and the IMF team join forces with CIA assassin August Walker to prevent a disaster of epic proportions. Arms dealer John Lark and a group of terrorists known as the Apostles plan to use three plutonium cores for a simultaneous nuclear attack on the Vatican, Jerusalem and Mecca, Saudi Arabia. When the weapons go missing, Ethan and his crew find themselves in a desperate race against time to prevent them from falling into the wrong hands.

Why Its a Fallout

  1. All of the actors give great performances, especially Tom Cruise and Henry Cavill.
  2. The story is really well-written and original.
  3. Fantastic stunt work, even for Mission: Impossible standards.
  4. Amazing and exciting action-packed scenes that will keep you at the edge of your seat.
  5. "I'm jumping out of a window"
  6. August Walker/John Lark's revelation is shocking, and you really don't expect it.
  7. Excellent and beautiful cinematography.
  8. The trailer did a great a combination of Imagine Dragons' song "Friction" and Lalo Schifrin's Mission: Impossible theme.
  9. Amazing musical score composed by Lorne Balfe.
  10. Henry Cavill is a very convincing and threatening villain.
  11. The helicopter chase scene was a great and tense climax.
  12. Really well-done editing, that has decent transitions between scenes.
  13. Awesome use of impractical effects, like the HALO jump scene.
  14. Like it's predecessors (except Mission: Impossible II and III) the opening titles sequence is kickass. What makes even more kickass are the flames that are burning up the images.

Bad Qualities

  1. Continuity error: In the beginning message sent to Ethan Hunt, it states that two years ago, he captured Solomon Lane, however the movie takes place in 2018, and the movie where the previous event happened, Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation took place in 2015.
  2. Sean Harris' performance as Solomon Lane, while decent, isn't as great as it was in Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation. Thankfully, Harris makes up for this with Lane appearing to be more dangerous than he was before.
  3. The HALO jump, while certainly impressive, seems a bit tame compared to the franchises previous stunts.

Mission: Impossible - Fallout was widely acclaimed by critics and fans alike for its direction, screenplay, cinematography, action sequences, stunts, musical score, and performances of the cast (particularly Tom Cruise), and is considered by many to be the best installment in the franchise. It currently holds a 97% on Rotten Tomatoes, with the website's critical consensus reads, "Fast, sleek, and fun, Mission: Impossible – Fallout lives up to the 'impossible' part of its name by setting yet another high mark for insane set pieces in a franchise full of them.", a 7.7 on IMDb, an 86 on Metacritic and a 3.9 on Letterboxd.

  • The film is the only Mission: Impossible film to have the IMAX version on the Blu-Ray, with the scenes that use a 1:90:1 aspect ratio, even on streaming services like Netflix.
