Kick-Ass is a 2010 superhero film released by Lionsgate based on the Icon Comics (An imprint of Marvel) series Kick-Ass by Mark Millar and John Romita Jr.

Why It Rocks

  1. Almost completely accurate to the source material, adapting many scenes from the comic series.
  2. Kick-Ass himself is a very likeable character backed up by a great performance by Aaron Johnson.
  3. Awesome action scenes, especially during the exciting climax.
  4. Hit-Girl is a badass and the child acting from her is great.
  5. Nicolas Cage does a great job as Big Daddy, and he has a great backstory that makes him likeable but not exactly in the right.
  6. Hilarious comedy that parodies common superhero tropes and more.
  7. Great costume designs, with Big Daddy's costume in particular being a nice parody of Batman's costume.
  8. One scene in the movie is completely done in a comic book style.
  9. Great tease for The Motherfucker (The villian of the follow up comic series) at the end.
  10. For the time it was a unique take on the superhero film genre, as this type of superhero film hasn't exactly been done before.

Bad Qualities

  1. Received controversy thanks to the offensive content, and it isn't exactly a film for everyone.
  2. Kick-Ass 2 isn't exactly a great follow-up.
