Clifford's Really Big Movie is an American animated adventure film based on the classic PBS Kids TV series Clifford the Big Red Dog, itself an adaptation of the book series of the same name by the late Norman Bridwell. This film was directed by Robert Ramirez, produced by Scholastic Entertainment and Big Red Dog Productions, and originally released to theaters by Warner Bros. on February 20, 2004.

This was John Ritter's final theatrical film role as he died from an aortic dissection on September 11, 2003. The film was dedicated to his memory, and it serves as the series finale, as no episodes aired after the film's release, though the show's spin-off Clifford's Puppy Days continued to air before concluding in 2006. It is the first theatrical film based on a PBS Kids TV show, and the respective book series of the same name.

A live action adaptation of both the book series of the same name and the show it spawned, released in theaters and Paramount+ in 2021.

Worried that his owners are spending too much on his food, Clifford the dog runs away to the circus with the intention of winning a lifetime supply of Tummy Yummies.

Why It Rocks

  1. It stays faithful to the books and the 2000 TV series.
  2. Clifford is still a very likable character.
  3. Great voice acting from those like Wayne Brady and John Goodman, but it also has John Ritter, Grey DeLisle, Cree Summer and Kel Mitchell reprising their roles from the 2000 TV series.
  4. Great animation that is a step up from the show's animation when it has cel shading over the animation in the film.
  5. It has well-written good songs with some of them being sung during the film's emotional scenes.
  6. The plot is decent.
  7. The ending was really beautiful, and is one of the most memorable ways to end off a good show with a movie.
  8. The film (released five months after his death) and Stanley's Dinosaur Round-Up (released two years after his death) were good ways to end the career of comedian John Ritter.

The Only Bad Quality

  1. Shackleford was kind of a jerk to Clifford for most of the film until he realises that he was wrong about him when Cleo reveals his true intentions.

  • This was the first film to not produced by Warner Bros. Feature Animation, since The Powerpuff Girls Movie, as Warner Bros. Feature Animation being closed down, until Happy Feet Two.
  • This is the first movie to be based on Clifford the Big Red Dog, the other being the live action film adaptation of the same name in 2021.
