Cidade de Deus
Cidade de Deus (English: City of God) is a 2002 Brazilian crime drama film directed by Fernando Meirelles and distributed by Miramax Films. It is adapted from the 1997 story of the same name by Paulo Lins.
Why it rocks
- The main location, the favela called "Cidade de Deus" is lovely.
- Nice pace, considering this film is two hours long.
- Lots of emotion.
- The song that goes with the film-- also titled "Cidade de Deus"-- is great to hear.
Cidade de Deus was recieved by global acclaim, and is now considered one of Brazil's greatest films. It was nominated for four Academy Awards; Best Cinematography, Best Director, Best Film Editing and Best Adapted Screenplay, however did not win any.
